JACK VERNON BELLINGHAM The family of Jack Bellingham sadly announces his passing on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of 53 years of marriage; daughter Dana Strapazzon (Lui) son Jeffrey (Scarlett) daughter-in-law Sandra; grandchildren, Brian (Colette), Jennifer (Damon), Bradley, Cynthia (Kevin), Kelly (Sean), Jeffrey, Jesse, Samantha (Cory), Crystal and Shayna; sister Joyce Light (Roy) sister-in-law Joan Hirschbach (Manfred) nieces, Kim, Keri, and Barbara and families; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents; brother Frank; and loving son Jack Wayne. Jack was a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets in 1934-44. He attended Principal Sparling School, Cecil Rhodes and in 1946, graduated from Daniel Mac Collegiate. Jack was an avid soccer player on the Weston Bred Team and participated in many high school sports. He joined Canadian General Electric on October 3, 1946, as an office boy, warehouse and order desk clerk before joining the General Sales Representatives in 1940. Barb and Jack married in 1951 and moved to Dauphin. He joined the Dauphin Travellers Association and golf became his passion. Over the next five years Jacks career moved the family to Brandon where he represented northern and southern Manitoba. Dana, who was born in Dauphin and Wayne, who was born in Brandon were now part of the family. The familys next move was Winnipeg and Jacks sales boundaries were extended to cover eastern Manitoba, north west Ontario as well as Winnipeg. Jack and Barb purchased a home at 222 Linwood Street in St. James in 1955 and together welcomed their third child Jeff, born November, 1956. That same year, Jack became a small motor specialist covering Manitoba, Saskatchewan and western Ontario. The 43 and a half years prior to retirement in 1990, comprised of his love for his job, the people he met and his career with C.G.E. In 1961, the family joined the YMCA. Along with many years of volunteered service, Jack served on the Board of Directors, Board of Governors and in 1967, President of the St. James/Assiniboia YMCA. He was an active member on the Manitoba Speed Swimming Association for many years and Head Timer at the Pan Am Games. Jack, a 35 year member of the Wasagaming Golf Course, spent the summers at Clear Lake, golfing, boating and swimming with family and friends, which provided for a great family life. In 1969, he purchased and renovated their summer home. In 1997, Barb and Jack moved to Gimli, where together they spent seven happy years. Jack was a great husband, father and grandfather and he cherished his family beyond words. Jacks funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. at Mount Royal Road. Our family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to family and friends for their love and support during their time of sadness. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at St. Boniface General Hospital, 5th Floor and especially the gracious ones in SICU and MICU, 2nd Floor.
