Marie is survived by her daughter Cassandra, brother Roy, sisters, Leona, Violet (Herb), Carol (Fritz), many loving nieces and nephews, and loyal companion and soul mate Bernie Marchenski. Marie was born in Handel, SK and grew up on the family farm in Lorette, MB. Adult life brought her to Winnipeg where she eventually married and raised a family. She will be remembered as a strong, courageous woman with a kind and caring heart. Summertime would find her outdoors tending to her yard and garden, strawberry picking, or even camping and fishing. Wintertime meant spending more time indoors sharing lovely meals with friends and family, or making handmade soap, one of her favourite hobbies. Special thanks to the staff of ward E5 at St. Boniface for their compassionate care, and to all the friends and family who helped during her time of need. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2004 at Glen Lawn Funeral home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre.
