GLADYS EVELYN (JAMIE) COCKSHOTT (nee JAMIESON) On May 31, 2004 Jamie passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Jamie was predeceased by her parents Ida (Kennedy) and Milton Jamieson; Jamies husband, Wilfred Cecil Cockshott in 1977; two brothers who died in early childhood, Reggie and Rodney; her sister Doris in 1998; and her daughter-in-law Florence Cockshott (Harry) in 1999. Jamie is survived by her step-sons Harry Cockshott and Art Cockshott (Joan) her grandchildren, Gary (Caryl), Carol (Yale), Shirley, Linda, Robert (Inge), Grant (Aynsley) and her three great-grandchildren, Owen, Benjamin and Noam. Jamie is survived by her sister-in-law Edith Cockshott and many cousins in Ontario who remember her with deep affection. Jamie was born on March 19, 1912 in Bowmanville, Ontario. Prior to her marriage to Wilfred, Jamie graduated from the Ontario School of Nursing. She was employed with the Childrens Aid Society in Windsor, ON as head nurse in the maternity division. She was a member of the Shrine Ladies Auxiliary (The Daughters of the Nile). Jamie spent her later years living at the Wellington retirement residence, 3161 Grant Ave., in Winnipeg. Jamie enjoyed the many social activities available there, surrounded by her many friends. Jamie frequently mentioned the happy times she spent with Lillian, Irene, Dorothy and Daisy. The Cockshott family extends our most sincere gratitude to all of you who made her days more pleasurable because of your loving care over these past several years including care workers Frieda, Josie, Edna and many others. In accordance with Jamies wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., officiated by the Rev. Michael Wilson of the Charleswood United Church. Interment to follow at the Elmwood Cemetery family grave site in Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8, or to a charity of your choice.
