DONALD KING Don King suddenly passed away while visiting friends, Helmar and Grace, in Powerview on May 30, 2004. He was 59 years old. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and left to mourn his passing is his loving wife Lesley; two children, Brent (Marcia) and Michelle (Jason) his mother Myrtle; brother Rod (Donna) sister-in-law Georgie; mother-in-law Vera; and nephews, Shaun (Shannon), Ryan and Curtiss and our newest King addition, Ethan. Don was born in Winnipeg and moved to Piney, MB when he was four. He spent most of his childhood growing up on the farm where his love of nature began at an early age. It was here where he cut down his first tree and began to learn to play the guitar, both of which he continued until the day he died. He moved back to Winnipeg where he began his career at the Highways department at 19 and would retire 36 years later at the age of 55. Don most enjoyed his time spent in the wilderness, hunting and cutting wood. He was an inventor, always creating new contraptions to help him complete the many projects he had on the go. Don didnt believe in doing anything halfheartedly and many of his small projects turned into full-blown operations. "Doc" was also a seasoned traveller and was often heard telling stories of his trips to France, England and Brazil. A celebration of Dons life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 7 at Thomson "in the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A private family interment will be help prior to the service. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 (949-2000).
