MARY WOYCHUK With great sadness, we regret to inform you that Mary Woychuk, wife of William Woychuk, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at the Gimli Community Health Centre. Marys peaceful death came after a courageous 12-year struggle with Parkinson Disease. In her loving memory, she is survived by her sons, Bob (Elaine) and Stan Woychuk; and her only grandson Ryan Woychuk. She also leaves behind one brother John Shymkiw; brother-in-law Nick Woychuk and family from St. Louis, MO; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving parents Paul and Julia Shymkiw; sister Lillian Shymkiw; and an infant sister. Mary had emigrated from the Ukraine to Canada in 1929, settling on a farm in Skylake, MB. Mary and William Woychuk were happily married in 1945 and continued to farm in the Skylake area. Despite the characteristically hard labour on family farms during an era where implements were few, Mary always went out of her way to assure that visitors never left her home hungry. Her home had always been in abundance of flowers, which had been her way of celebrating life. Mary and her husband had ended their farm life in 1978, when the couple retired and moved to Gimli. The remainder of their life together had been spent captivated by the beauty of the Gimli Beach skyline during their numerous evening walks. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB, with Pastor H.H. Barber officiating. A viewing will be held one half hour prior to service time. Interment to follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be Ryan, Leon, Ed and Herb Woychuk and Robert and Curtis Symko. In her memory, donations can be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 204 - 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
