CECILE ANTOINETTE DIONNE (nee ARCAND) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Cecile Dionne. At the same time we rejoice that the Lord has called her home to be with Him and the members of her family who went before her. Mom passed away on Friday, June 4, 2004 at Foyer Valade. She was born in St. Jean Baptiste, MB on September 11, 1905. She grew up in Letellier, where she married Joseph E. Dionne and raised her family. Later on the family moved to Winnipeg. Following the passing of her beloved husband, J.E.D., on March 9, 1983, she lived with her son Jules, until his death in November 2001. After spending a year and a half with her daughter Georgette and son-in-law David, it became necessary to look for a home which would provide Mom with the special care she needed. We were fortunate to find the answer to her needs at Foyer Valade, where she spent the last 14 months of her life, happy in the beautiful surroundings, enjoying the flowers that she loved and a friendly little bird, and in the gentle care of the staff members. She was always eager to play a game of Rummy which she often won. Moms passing has left a large void in the lives of the remaining members of her beloved family; her two daughters, Marcelle (Bill) of Burgessville, ON and Georgette (David) of Winnipeg; her 12 grandchildren, Lucille, Michael, Michelle, Bob, Jim, Rose-Marie, Cecile, Monique, Juliette, Jack, Jerry and Davy; and 28 great-grandchildren. Mom, always elegant and gracious, was an accomplished homemaker, delighting her family and guests with her wonderful, creative cooking and her welcoming smile. But her greatest joy was to have her family all together for special events and family dinners. As a longtime member of the Catholic Womens League, she was always ready to offer her services in her parish. She lived her whole life with a great sense of duty and followed the guidance of her deep faith in God. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Foyer Valade who gave to our Mother, so much love, attention and good care during her stay there. Mom we love you and we celebrate your life. You have rightfully earned the reward that the Lord has called you to enjoy. We will always cherish your memory, and look toward the day when we will all be reunited in Gods heaven. Prayers will be offered on Wednesday evening, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at the Assumption Church, 609 Leola St. Transcona on Friday, June 11 at 12:30 p.m. Celebrant will be Father L. Aubin. Pallbearers are Moms grandsons, Michael, Bob, Jim, Jack, Jerry and Davy. Burial to follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
