Date of Passing: Jun 05, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM KEITH MILLER HARCUS 1948 - 2004 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of their brother, nephew and uncle Willie at the age of 55 years at the Riverview Health Center in Winnipeg. Following a courageous battle with cancer, he left us peacefully with his niece Tracy by his side, on June 5, 2004. He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Ernest, Oswall and Thomas; sisters, Jacqueline Knihinicki, Geraldine Stockes, Linda Harcus, Laura (Bob) Herda and Iris (John) Harper; aunt Mae Harcus; along with his many nieces, nephews and friends. Willie will be especially missed by his niece Tracy and her husband Stanley and their children, Tim and Charity. A special thank you to Willies brother Tommy for being there for him not only as a brother, but also as a friend. He was predeceased by his father John (1991) and mother Margaret (1979) brothers, Wesley and George; and sister Holly, all at an early age. Brothers-in-law, Harold Stockes (1980) and William Knihinicki (1995). Willie was born in Selkirk and raised and lived most of his life in Lockport, MB. He attended Lockport School and his first job was with Casey Shows and then went on to Mulder Brothers and DeFehr Furniture. He was given an opportunity to work at St. Andrews Lock and Dam at the age of 23, for 32 years, until his early retirement in 2004. He took great pride in his job as a Public Works and Government Service worker. He had made many friends among his co-workers, whom celebrated him with plaques and pictures in honour of his 32 years of service. Willie will be remembered as a very kind and generous person. His door was always open to friends and family. He always remembered your birthday and wanted to celebrate them, old or young. Birthdays and special occasions were always important to him. Willies family would like to celebrate his life on his 56th birthday. A Memorial Service will held on June 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Andrews On The Red Anglican Church, with Rev. Stephen Sharman officiating. Interment will follow in the Churchyard cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Crow and staff on 3 east at the Riverview Palliative Care Unit. Also, thank you to Dr. Nasom and Dr. Leylak and staff at CancerCare for their care and support and to Selkirk Homecare for all their care while Willie was at home. Flowers gratefully declined, as expressions of sympathy, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Riverview Health Center Palliative Care Unit 3-east. God saw you getting tired, So he wrapped you in his loving arms And whispered, Come with me. You suffered much in silence Your spirit did not bend You faced your pain with courage Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us Your fight was not in vain God took you in his loving arms And saved you from all pain Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
