PETER BOYER Peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on June 6, 2004, Peter Boyer passed away at Concordia Hospital at the age of 74 years. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 50 years, Velma; sons, Gordon (Marianne) and Christopher (Martina) granddaughters, Sabrina and Kirsten; sisters-in-law, Anne Boyar and Ellen Meyer (Egon) nephews, Ron (Connie) and Bob (Cielo) and nieces, Marilyn (Doug) and Vivian. Peter was predeceased by his older brother Stan in February 2003. Peter was born in Lang, Saskatchewan on May 2, 1930. Orphaned at an early age, Peter and Stan came to Winnipeg to live with relatives. Peter spent his early working life as a miner and with the railway before joining the RCMP as a civilian employee at the age of 20. He held several positions there, eventually becoming garage shop foreman. He retired in 1987 after a nearly 38-year career. Peter filled his retirement years with many interests. His passion for coin collecting was shared with Chris and he spent many hours at coin shops and shows. He also had a keen interest in aircraft and aviation. Mostly, however, he spent his days helping family and friends with all sorts of tasks and projects. Nothing, it seems, was too big or too small for Peter to find a way to get it done. One need only mention in passing about something that needed fixing when you could expect to see Petes Purple Pickup rolling up to your door with a load of tools in the back. He had a gruff exterior, but he was a man who touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed. Dad, you were our rock, our source of strength. A Celebration of Peters life will take place on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to the staff at Concordia Hospital for their concern and caring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Concordia Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca
