ERNEST HAYWOOD JR. With great sadness we announce that on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, Ernest Haywood Jr. (Ernie) left us for his eternal rest. Born December 19, 1921 in Lancaster, England, Dad came to Winnipeg in 1926. He had been employed with the CNR until his retirement in 1986. A Second World War veteran of D-Day he served proudly with the 3rd Division of the Dundas Glengarry Highlanders, being wounded on October 21, 1944 in Holland. Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Pauline; brothers, Reg (Eleanor) and Ed (Elsie) and sister Elsie Marlatt (Murray). He leaves five children, Bill (Elsie) of Calgary, Barbara Hargrove (Bill), Bob (Elenore), Barry (Brenda), all of Winnipeg and Brenda Bedard (Henri) of Kapuskasing, ON and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Sr. and Ethel (Winder). Since his retirement Dad loved puttering with his flowers in the backyard where he enjoyed many visits from his family. A special thanks to Kathy Curtain and her team on N2 East at Concordia Hospital for their compassion, support, and care of Dad. A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. If friends desire, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Pave the path to the space Which will be that special place Where well meet again Gone you are Forgotten youll be not Bye for now Love all of us.
