KIMBERLY DAWN SPRONG Suddenly on June 9, 2004 at Riverview Heath Centre with family at her side Kim Sprong, of Stonewall passed away at the age of 42. Kim leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 19 years, Henry (Hank), daughters Destinee and Kaylee, parents Diane and Leonard Recunyk, brother Cory (Corinne). her nephews Seth, Dion, Johnathon, Larry (Karlene), Kyle (Tarya), Eric, her nieces Laurissa, Jennifer (Marty), Crystal (Rich), Natalie, Dawn- Rae (Jim), and Randi, great niece Victoria, sisters in law Bev (Ray Girard), Charlotte (Larry Johannson), Sherry (Bill Robertson), Donna (John Strickland), as well as many aunts and uncles and cousins. Kim was predeceased by her Grandparents Caroline and Jack Toews of Selkirk, Olga and Paul Recunyk of Winnipeg, Great grandparents Rose and John Malek of east Selkirk, aunt Janie Weaver of Winnipeg, mother and father in law Henry and Margorie Sprong of Selkirk. Born January 4, 1962 in Selkirk, Kims parents moved to Kelowna B.C. in 1967, returning to Selkirk in 1972 where Kim attended Happy Thought School during her early years, and graduated from high school at Selkirk Collegiate in 1979. She was crowned Carnival Queen in 1977, as well as runner up in the Miss Selkirk Steeler beauty pageant in 1978. Kim enjoyed camping, gardening, craft making, card games, and entertaining friends who would stop by to visit. Her special interests included drag racing with her daughters, husband as well as many close friends at Gimli and Brainerd Minnesota. Always one to help others, Kim was respected by many for her dedication, commitment, and hard work and tell it like it is attitude. This won her much respect from all that knew her. After high school, Kim was employed as bookkeeper at Bachman & Associates, as well as E.H. Price. Not one to enjoy sitting behind a desk, Kim started work in the hospitality business, working for Gaffers Restaurant and Lounge for 15 years, and her most current position at Grrrumpys in Selkirk. In accordance with Kims wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday June 15, at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk with interment to follow at St. Clements cemetery. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may contribute in Kims memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg Manitoba, R3C 2B7. The family greatly acknowledges the care given by the doctors and nurses at Stonewall General Hospital, Health Sciences, and Riverview Heath Centre.
