MAUREEN DOWIE- MARANDO Mother - Wife Daughter - Dancer Peacefully at home, with her family by her side in Perth, ON, Maureen passed into the presence of her Lord who promised, "There will be no more death or sorrow or crying, or pain." (Rev. 21.4) Maureen was born in Winnipeg where she attended Tuxedo Shaftsbury High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba. She continued her post-graduate studies at Concordia University in Montreal. Maureen worked as a youth counsellor for the Boys & Girls Club, and as a broadcaster / journalist for CJAD, CBC Montreal, The Smiths Falls Record News and the Brockville Recorder and Times. Dance, however, was Maureens true passion. In 1994, Maureen opened the Perth Dance & Musical Theatre Company. Her company celebrated its 10th anniversary with two sold-out recitals and a formal gala on May 21, 2004. Maureen leaves to mourn her husband Dominic; her children, Harrison, Luke and Haley; along with her loving parents, Anne and Louis Dowie. Also surviving are her mother and father-in-law, Giuseppe and Teresa Marando; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Tony Migueis; nieces, Tanya, Jessica and Melissa; her many loving aunts and uncles, cousins and dear friends. Pallbearers were her cousins, Neil Dowie, Bill Dowie, Terrance Kirkness, Leigh McDermott, Mark McDermott and John Simperl. It was Maureens wish that an education fund be established for her children. Donations may be sent to, D. Marando, in care of the Perth and District Funeral Home, 15 Victoria St., Perth, ON K7H 2H3.
