PEGGY (FRANCES M.) SPRAGUE On Friday, June 11, 2004, Peggy died peacefully at the Charleswood Care Centre where she had lived happily for the past three years. Born in 1910 to Frank and Jacqueline Sprague, she is survived by her sisters, Jacqueline Darwin of Winnipeg and Dorothy Cascadden of Calgary and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Kay Doyle and Mary Locke and by her brother Daniel Sprague. After her learning years at St. Marys Academy, Peggy began working at MTS. Then during the Second World War years, she joined the Air Force, retiring in 1945 as a Flight Officer. She soon became one of the first employees after Jack Blick at CJOB where she stayed until her retirement in 1975. The Sprague family was almost the earliest of the Victoria Beach cottagers and the sunsets and walks and gardens in the area always gave Peggy the greatest pleasure. She enjoyed crafts and needlework and she did many hours of volunteer work with CJOB and with her Soroptomist Group. She and Jacquie also took many wonderful trips together in their retirement years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway on Wednesday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. With interment of Peggys ashes to take place at Victoria Beach Cemetery, Wednesday, June 16, at 3:00 p.m. A special thank you to all the staff at Charleswood Care Centre for their loving care of Peggy over the past three years.
