Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARA SCHADE (nee KOSCHINSKY) Peacefully, on Sunday June 13, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Clara Schade passed away surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with numerous health problems. Clara was born November 1, 1916 in Jansen, SK. She was raised on the family farm eventually coming to Winnipeg where she met her husband John. They married in 1942 and remained together for 45 years. Mom was the true strength of our family. Her joy was in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was always there to support them. In her earlier years, she loved to get the family together for Sunday dinners. All who knew Mom said she was a compassionate person whose courage and cheerfulness in the presence of her own illnesses was a great inspiration and help to others. Clara made many friends in her Westwood Estates home. She enjoyed many evenings with them playing cards and Scrabble. She was very competitive and always played to win. If you won, you did so on your own merit and abilities. Her family was subject to the same high standards. For the past 17 years, Clara was a member of the Oakview Place Day Program. She made many friends there and enjoyed all the activities arranged by the program coordinators. Bowling and darts were among her favourites. Clara also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as a perfect sunset or full moon viewed from the balcony of her home as well as the sound of songbirds at the lake. Clara was predeceased by her husband John in 1987; brothers, Robert, Joseph, William, Theodor, Henry (Gladys), Gustav (Linda) sister Lena (Herb) her parents, Otto and Wilhelmina Koschinsky; and her parents-in-law, Ludwig and Ottilie Schade. Clara is survived by her son Ron (Ruth), grandchildren, Darren, Karen (Bruce) and Brenda; her son Allen (Lynne), grandchildren, Janet (Lawrence), Richard, and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Kathleen; her son Gary and grandchildren, Corbin and Jamieson. She is also survived by her brother Herman. Also left to mourn are many extended family members including in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Gordon Koshinsky, Gary Koshinsky, Darren Schade, Richard Schade, Lawrence Marino, and Bruce Thomson. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care and concern given to Mom in her final days. Thanks also to the home care staff who cared for her while she was still resident in her home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St., with interment at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Claras memory to the Banner and Parament Fund, Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 1Z5. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
