THOMAS ALEXANDER NIXON September 24, 1914- June 14, 2004 It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Nixon of Mulvihill announces his unexpected passing on June 14, 2004 at the Lakeshore Hospital in Ashern, at the age of 89. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Tom (Shirley) and children, Tommy (Wendy), Brian, Walter and Ricco; son Alan (Gayleen) and children, Alan Jr. and Grant; daughter Marian (Norm) Ulyatt and children, Janice (Darryl) Boch and Gregory (Beckie) great-grandchildren, Alex, Laura, Bradley, Ryan, Brady, Matthew, Ashley and Kyle. Dad was predeceased by our Mom, Margaret; his parents; brothers, Herb (Martha), William, John (Evelyn), Russell, Melville; sisters, Margaret (George) Robertson, Jean (Gerry Pidhirney) (Ivan Miller) and brother-in-law Vic Spicer. He is survived by one sister, Muriel Spicer; extended family, Bill Kostash (Janice) and son Cameron; brother-in-law Harold (Jane) Park, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and his best friend of many years, Margaret Parkes and her family: son, Vernon (Marlene) Parkes and children, Cheryl, Anita (Ken) Hanslip and Mark (Tracy) son Bruce (Colleen) Parkes and children, Tanya (Dave) Schultz, Twyla, Carl; great-grandchildren, Zakeri, Jade, Megan, Evan and Austin. Dad was born and grew up in the Gordon area and farmed the family farm for many years. After leaving the farm, he worked as a carpenter/foreman for Claydon Construction for many years. He was the epitome of a self taught man, always willing to lend a helping hand. He spent his latter years in Mulvihill and together with Margaret shared a love for gardening, creating a wide array of flower and vegetable gardens that they tended with love. He was proud to walk you through them and show off a new and interesting flower he had found and planted. A celebration of Dads life will take place on Thursday, June 17 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall, MB with a private, family interment to follow. Honorary pallbearers are all the friends he met throughout his life. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation; the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Memorial Eye Foundation, or a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
