WILLIAM (W.B.) LANDES March 20, 1910 - June 16, 2004 Bill passed away peacefully on June 16 at the age of 94. Bill was predeceased by his wife Ruth of 60 years and by his partner Ruth Pauls. He is survived by his children, Estelle (Bernie) Rosenberg, Les (Dianne) Landes, George (Shirley) Landes; grandchildren, Jay Udow, Susan and Harold Gershman, David Udow and Erin Reid, Tara Landes and Steve Nevard, Remi Landes, Micah Landes; great-granchildren, Jennifer and Rachel Gershman; and his dear friend Angela Peritore. Bill had a long and successful career in outdoor advertising. He was owner and president of Universal Signs Ltd., which became an important part of the largest outdoor advertising company in North America. He was honoured as "Outdoor Advertising Man of the Year." He was active in many community and non-profit organizations. He served as president of Shaarey Zedek Brotherhood and was honoured as "Man of the Year" by the Red River Exhibition. He was a founding member of Big Brothers of Winnipeg and The Childrens Museum of Manitoba. An expert poker player, a connoisseur of scotch and fine cigars, a boating enthusiast, and an all around raconteur. Bill led a full life. His family and friends will miss his companionship, guidance and great stories. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
