WOULENA MARGARET ALLAN (R.N.) Woulena Margaret Allan passed away peacefully at the Neepawa General Hospital with her family at her side on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the age of 93 years. She leaves to mourn her daughter Margaret and Ron Downey; sons, Don and Diane Allan and Ken and Louise Allan; 10 grandchildren, Sandra of Calgary, Roger of Winnipeg, Lori of Red Deer, Patti of Pine Falls, Kathy of Oakbank, Kevin of Eden, Keith of Neepawa, Cindy and Trina of Winnipeg and Spencer of Stonewall; as well as 15 great-grandchildren. Woulena was predeceased by her first husband Gilbert Allan on September 29, 1987, six weeks before their 50th Anniversary; her second husband Dempsey Nay in 1998 and daughter Jean Wrightson in June 1997. Mom was the last surviving sibling of the Cleland/Kitson families. Mom was born on March 30, 1911 in East Jordan, MI, U.S.A. and as a young child, the family moved to Riding Mountain and settled there, where mom spent her life. She had her earlier schooling in Riding Mountain and took grade 9 on in Portage la Prairie. She then carried on to take her nurses training and graduated with her R.N. degree for St. Boniface School of Nursing in 1933. She then worked at the Ninette Sanatorium. In November 1937 she married Gilbert Allan and they lived in Riding Mountain where they raised their four children. Mom was active in the united church and the U.C.W., and played the piano for many years. Mom was always knitting or sewing and made many quilts, of which all her children and grandchildren have as a memory of her. Many a good home cooked meal with all our extended families was enjoyed. Funeral service will be held at the Neepawa United Church, 475 Mountain Ave., on Saturday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George Cargo and Rev. Joe Ball officiating. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa. In lieu of flowers, donations in mothers memory may be made to the Neepawa Hospital Palliative Care Centre, Box 1240 Neepawa, MB R0J 1H0 or to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
