ANNA ZITZELSBERGER July 5, 1906 - June 16, 2004 At the age of 97 Anna passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at the Bethania Personal Care Home. Anna will be deeply missed by son Laurence (Catherine) six grandchildren, Louise (Dave), Lianne (Michael), Hilde (Otto), Anton (Michele) all of Ottawa, Christine (Richard), Robert of Winnipeg; great-grandchild James of Ottawa; sister Rosa; nieces, Roswitha, Franziska, Hildegard, Edeltraud, Philomena, Siglinde; nephew, Sepp all of Bavaria, Germany and Theo of Edmonton. Anna was predeceased by her husband Louis, her son Anton and daughter-in-law Helen. Anna was a very talented and gifted person. She was a member of the Crafts Guild of Manitoba where she pursued her interest in all types of needlework excelling in Hardanger (Norwegian embroidery) and won many ribbons at the Red River Exhibition. She spent many hours with her knitting needles. The clicking of the needles always meant someone was going to receive something, from a pair of baby booties to a cable knit sweater. Anna was an excellent cook and all enjoyed her Kupfl, doughnuts and apple strudel. She also spent many pleasant hours in her flower garden and was well known for her "green thumb". She was an excellent seamstress when on one occasion, she made a childs suit from an adults coat without a pattern. She was a member of the German Society of Winnipeg for many years. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Ray Martens and the staff of Bethania Personal Care Home for their wonderful care and in particular concern given to her in her final days. Thanks also to the home care nursing staff who cared for her when she was still residing in her home. According to Annas wishes, a private family service has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
