EMIL LEO JOHNSON After a lengthy illness, on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Seven Oaks General Hospital, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Emil Johnson passed away peacefully. Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife Anna, with whom he spent 58 treasured years; as well as his children, Jack (Dee), Leona Baker (Larry), Bob (Anita), Anne Williams (Steve), Valerie Eyford (Brian), Eric (Raylene), Kris (Mandy), Sue Lavallee, Joe (Cheryl) and Larry (Lorraine). As well, Emil was blessed with grandchildren, Heidi (Frank), Jim (Nadine), Elena, Helga (Liam), Brett (Angie), Terri (Don), Robbie (Jonie), Tim (Suzie), April, Laura, Julie, Emil (Tammy), Krystal, Michael (Amanda), Kelli, Curtis, Travis, Kyle, Matthew, Lucas and Jeremy; and great-grandchildren, Reeve, Lilia, Jorja, Lawrence, Alex, Chelsea, Maddisson, Riley, Trevor, Melissa, Jerald and Nicholas. Emil was predeceased by his sister Stephania; his brothers, Joe, Lorne and Jack; and his grandson Clay. He is also survived by his sister Aenone Studler (Reg) brother Neil (Gwen) and sisters-in-law, Elsie and Winnie. Emil was born in Vestfold, MB on June 24, 1921. He was the third of seven children born to Einar and Sigurbjorg Johnson. He loved the farm, and spent his entire life involved in farming. As well, he hauled fish and livestock for his Dad for many years. Emil married the love of his life and best friend since elementary school, Anna Arnason, on January 19, 1946 and they settled together near Oak Point. He spent several years assisting Dr. Kjernested providing veterinary services throughout the Interlake. He worked very hard all of his life caring for his cows to provide for his family, but he always found time to pick crocuses, lady slippers and tiger lilies for his Anna in the spring. Emil was a lifetime member of the Manitoba Progressive Conservative Party and served as a member of the Crown Lands Appeal Board and Manitoba Farm Mediation Board. Emil had a love of hockey, and you would find him in front of the television on winter Saturdays cheering on his ever-changing favourite teams. We will miss his clever wit, storytelling, singing and loveable sense of humour. Cremation has already taken place. In celebration of Emils life, a private family service is being held. In accordance with his wishes, no public service will be held, and no interment is planned. The family would like to express its sincere thanks to Dr. Finlayson and the staff of the Seven Oaks Hospital, Dr. Choudhury and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, and Dr. Burnett in Lundar for their support, compassion and attention during the time Dad spent in their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emils memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
