Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES BREMNER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Bremner at sunset on Saturday, June 12, 2004 in Winnipeg. Charles leaves to mourn his wife of 61 years, Fern; his son Bill (Marilyn) and daughter Carol; and his surviving siblings, Nell Roy, Joan (George) Childs, Louise (Jack) Haddrell, Vi (Ray) Pitcher, Bob (Lorraine) Bremner and many other relatives and friends. Charlie was born in Kipling, SK on June 7, 1919 and moved to Dauphin, MB with his family in 1935. He joined the 2nd Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers in 1940 then served with the Air Force in St. Hubert, QC until 1945. While in the east, Charlie met and married Fern and after the war they returned to Dauphin to raise their family. Charlie joined the CNR in 1949 where he remained until his retirement. Charlie always had a thirst for knowledge and a love of sharing that knowledge with others, especially children. An avid reader and lover of music, he also liked bowling, curling and skating and especially enjoyed his long walks. Charlie was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need as well as volunteering at the Church, the library, and the Credit Union and delivering meals on wheels. He will be most remembered by those who knew him as a kind and gentle man who had a smile and hello for everyone. The family would like to thank the staff of the Riverview Health Centre for the care and compassion that they extended to Charlie and for the dignity they allowed him. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in Charles memory to Gideon Bibles, the Alzheimers Society or a charity of choice.
