GEORGE CHARISON George passed away at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at the age of 79. Born in Poland on April 20, 1925, George immigrated to Canada in April, 1930 with his parents and brothers and sister. They settled on a farm in Pine Ridge where they attended school and worked hard to earn a living by farming, caddying at the golf course and "cutting chamois". In 1941 George and his brothers and sister bought a farm in the Gunton area and continued working together for a number of years. George married Loraine Inman in 1948 and they farmed and raised their family north of Stonewall. Failing health forced George to move to Rosewood Lodge in 1997. George enjoyed travelling to Western Canada, the Ukraine, Hawaii and other parts of the U.S. He enjoyed playing cribbage. Many family dinners were followed by cribbage with Brian and the boys. However, he did not enjoy losing, even to his grandsons. George is survived by his son Bob; daughter-in-law Patti, grandsons, Derek (Angela), Jay (Cheryl) and Aaron, great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ashton and Hayley; sister Mary Fines and many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his wife Loraine (1969), son Brian (1998), daughter-in-law Anne (2000), brothers, Steve (1980), Alex (1992) and Stan (1993) and sister Anne (1997). Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel Stonewall. Interment to follow in Windsor Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the caring staff of Rosewood Lodge for the wonderful care and friendship they gave George over the past seven years. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
