Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN MARGUERITE HOUSTON Passed away on May 22, 2004 at the Rockyview Hospital, Calgary, AB. Predeceased by her dear son Frank Norman in September 1993. Survived by her loving daughter Carole; son-in-law Gordon; her beloved grandchildren, Susan and Jennifer; and six great-grandchildren. Helen was born on November 27, 1914 in St. Boniface, MB where she spent most of her life working and raising her family. Her career started at 15 with Canada Packers. Later as Business Manager at Gaults Wholesale her talents for creating her own dress designs and displays for mannequins were recognized. Other positions were with Gensers Furniture and Sears, Polo Park. In 1986 Helen moved to Calgary to be near her family. Interests included travel throughout Canada, USA and Europe, apparel and home design, gardening, and the great outdoors. Osteoporosis at age 50 did not damper her great enthusiasm for life and love of family and friends despite having endured four broken hips, fractured elbows, numerous spinal fractures and many corrective surgeries. Her ashes will be interred at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial services. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Dr. G. Melling, her physician and good friend, and the very caring and professional staff at Southwood Care Centre who gave Helen peace and comfort during her fight with Alzheimers and osteoporosis.
