She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Robert Brown Wilson and her daughter Joanne Hill. Cecelia "Toots", Grandma, will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Beth and her husband Clint Bradley; her son-in-law Bud Hill; grandchildren, Bob Hill (Heather), Beth Dowse, Craig Hill (Diane), Brant Bishop (Shari), Cheryl MacKay (Danny), Bruce Bishop, Candace Cooper and Shannon Bradley. She also leaves 25 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; and many relatives in Scotland, British Columbia and rural Manitoba. Cecelia was born in Winnipeg, on July 27, 1911 to Mrs. Nellie Garrett and H. Leonard Garrett of Simcoe Street. "Toots" first attended school in West St. Paul close to Middlechurch Home and then later in West Kildonan. She first met her husband Bob at a dance in Winnipeg in the early 1930s and married on July 12, 1933. Cecelia worked for a number of years at the T. Eaton Company as a sales clerk. She loved bowling, dancing with Bob, fishing at the cottage, and doing her needlework and knitting for her many grandchildren. Christmas dinners at Grandmas were always an event for the family. In her retirement years Toots and Bob spent 26 winters of great fellowship with great friends at Posada Del Sol in Harleingen, TX. In 1959 they built their cottage at Point Du Bois, MB and enjoyed many years there with family and friends. They were pioneers of block five at Point Du Bois and their lives will be remembered on a memorial monument overlooking the Winnipeg River. Special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Cecelia enjoyed many happy years at Middlechurch, the place she called home. The employees of Middlechurch were adopted by Cecelia as her family and they in turn treated her compassionately as one of theirs. Cecelia served as a member of the residents council and was often recognized for her volunteer work at the home. A memorial celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, 280 Balderstone Rd., West St. Paul, MB, with Chaplain Lynn Austen officiating. A reception and a gathering of friends will follow at the home. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Foundation Fund of the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. God saw you getting tired So he closed his arms around you and whispered "Come with me Toots" So he took you home to rest Gods Garden must be beautiful For he only takes the best Rest now in Peace Grandma with Grandpa.
