JOHN MAKUCH With great sadness the family announces the passing of John Makuch on June 17, 2004. John is survived by his loving wife and best friend Phyllis. He was very proud of his children by marriage, David (Joanne) Cant, Ted (Marlene) Cant, Rick (Donna) Cant, Janet (Len) Balmer and Robin (Judy) Cant. His grandchildren, Heather, Ian, Darren, Christopher, Alexander, Gordon, Christina and great-grandson Kyle. Aunt Anne Knysh and Uncle John Romance (Winnipeg) as well as numerous cousins. John was predeceased by his parents, Metro and Julia Makuch. Born December 7, 1929 in Moose Jaw, SK John attended William Grayson School and the Technical Institute. He was a member of the Twentieth Armoured Reserves, played hockey, football and curling. John was also a lifelong Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. After a distinguished career of 34 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, as a member of the Fort Gary Horse and the Royal Canadian Dragoons, serving as a peacekeeper in both Egypt and Cypress as well as 10 years in Germany, John retired in Winnipeg in 1982. John was a most kind, considerate and generous man, who will be missed by all who knew him. In keeping with Johns request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service held.
