Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISABEL BURTON (nee Macaulay) June 22, 1903 - June 23, 2004 Peacefully, on June 23, 2004 Isabel Burton "Nanny" passed away at Riverview Health Centre. She is survived by her daughter Joyce Laidler, her grandchildren, Robert Laidler (Dianne) and Barbara Sokalski (Robert) and her great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Andrew) and Rob. She is also survived by her sister Catherine Macaulay. She was predeceased by her husband Lionel and her sisters Mary, Jean, Fran; brother Ian, and her son-in-law Len. Isabel was born in Lymington, England and came to Canada in 1912. After a long courtship she married Lionel on her 25th birthday and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. After raising their daughter Isabel began a career at the Municipal Hospitals, now Riverview Health Centre. She worked in the Arts and Crafts department there until her retirement. Isabel enjoyed nothing more than her summers at Victoria Beach. She and Lionel hosted family and friends at their cottage. Their summer days were filled by bicycling, berry-picking and badminton. Lately Isabel had not gone down to the cottage, but she kept her keen interest in knowing what was going on at "VB". Isabel was fortunate to celebrate her 100th birthday at her home, in a grand fashion. She sat like a queen as a parade of a lifetime of family and friends toasted to her health. A quieter birthday celebration was held this year at Riverview Health Centre. Cremation has taken place and a service was held at Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in memory of Isabel may be made to a charity of ones choice. "Drive carefully" Nanny THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
