VIVIENNE DOROTHY FONGER (nee LOVEGROVE) It is with great sadness, we mourn the passing of our beloved wife, mom and grandma on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 . After a lengthy illness, she passed away at Victoria General Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Lena and Bert; brother Harold; and sister Eunice. She is survived by many friends and family who dearly cherish her memory, Don, her husband of 51 years; her daughter Norma (Pat) and grandsons, Evan and Calvin; her son Jim (Mari) and grandson James and granddaughter Elizabeth of Columbia, SC; her son Bob (Susi) of Calgary, AB; Jack (Joan) Fonger; and many other dear relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Winnipeg where she lived her whole life. After attending Gordon Bell High School and working in a bank, she met Don and raised three children. Throughout her life she was a loving wife and mother who was always there for her family and friends before herself. She had a genuine interest in others and their lives. Spending her whole married life in Fort Garry, she nurtured many wonderful and long lasting friendships which have continued to support her through her recent illness. Her outside interests included over 30 years in the McKinnon Guild with volunteering at the Nearly New Shop, her bridge clubs, her 23 years of dance aerobics and the dear friendships that all these activities fostered. She was a gracious hostess and wonderful cook for many parties and celebrations including her annual Grey Cup party since 1966 and her Academy Awards Home Theatre nights. She loved her home overlooking the river and spending many summer evenings flower gardening in her backyard. She travelled with Don, but her heart was always back home with her family and friends. The family would like to thank the multitude of people who supported her throughout her illness. In particular Dr. Jeyakumar and Ann, Dr. Tomy, Dr. Greene, Rev. Ron Long, Ivy, her primary nurse and all the caring 3rd floor staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their excellent care and who were also a great source of comfort. We would also like to thank Viviennes guardian angel, Olive , and the Calendar Girls for bringing warmth, love and happiness during her hospital stay. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Thomson "In the Park" on Monday, June 28 at 1:30 p.m. If friends so wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made on her behalf to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8.
