Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE SHIRLEY ANN HILLAND (HARGRAVE) 1918 - 2004 June 20 at her home in St. Malo, Lorraine passed away with her daughter Judy at her side. She was predeceased by her brother Jack and her husband Allen. Lorraine leaves to mourn her daughters, Wendy (Hugh) Anderson, Bonnie (John Daly), Judy (Ray Sie) and her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jared), Shelby (Ross), Ian and Winter. Lorraine was born and raised in Winnipeg. She was working as a hairdresser there when she met and married Allen. They moved to Minitonas and Swan River where their three daughters were born. In 1957 they moved to Fort Churchill, MB where they lived for 26 years. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, was active in the community and the Eastern Star, and worked at the Post Office and Transient Centre. The family built a cabin at Glad Lake where they spent all their summers. She and Al lived in Leduc, AB for a brief period. In 1977 Lorraine moved to Winnipeg until she found her "little house" on the lake in St. Malo. She used it first as a summer cottage, but with Judy, Ray and Winter moving next door she made it her permanent home. Lorraine had a number of pets retire at her home but she spoiled and spent the greatest time with her constant companion Cocoa whom she has missed terribly. Lorraine was a fabric artist and proudly entered her award winning quilts in the Frog Follies Agricultural Show for many years. The St. Malo Ghost Riders still remember Gammies chili at their horse shows. The family would like to thank the St. Pierre Home and Palliative Care Program, especially Ann-Marie and Shirley for their devoted care, which allowed Lorraine to remain in her own home. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at her "little house" on Saturday, June 26 at 1:00 p.m. for her friends and family. (204) 347-5212.
