Date of Passing: Jun 22, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN EDWARD MUIR It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Edward Muir on June 22, 2004 at the age of 61 years. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Jennifer, Alison, and Gillian, and his devoted wife and partner, Kay. John is survived by his sister Dorothy and husband Ken Mycroft, nephews, Allan and Peter; mother-in-law Margaret Farnworth; sister-in-law Christine and husband David Pearson, and nieces, Vanessa and Helen. John was born and raised in England, which is where he met Kay. They immigrated to Canada in 1975. John spent the majority of his working life with the Manitoba Government - Department of Highways until his retirement in January 2003. An avid reader, John had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, and thoroughly enjoyed opportunities to have discussions on all topics. He could always be counted on to bring his quick wit and sly sense of humour to any situation. A sports and academic enthusiast, John took great pleasure in introducing, mentoring, and coaching his daughters in a wide variety of activities. His British roots made him particularly fond of soccer, and he was extremely pleased to know that England had advanced in the European Cup. In his short retirement, John was a true and dependable friend who spent his time caring for others, taking walks with Jake, and enjoying a good cup of tea and conversation with family and friends. Thankfully, he and Kay were also able to get away on a wonderful and long overdue holiday in Cuba. As was his fervent wish, there will be no service. The family will be remembering John in England. Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and remember what peace there may be in silence.
