JAMES HENRY COUSINS It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; Jim Cousins at St. Boniface Hospital on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the age of 81 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years Mary; his son James (Denise) step-children, Shirlee, Ken (Ramona) grandchildren, Joanne (fiance Andrew) Crystal, Jesse, Dean (Debbie), Corey; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alanna, Kellie, Cameron; his sister Violet (Bert) sister-in-law Polly (Mike) and brother-in-law Leonard. Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents, William and Mabel; brothers, Sidney and William and sister Mabel. At the young age of 17, Jim enlisted with the 3rd Batallion Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry, wanting to follow in the footsteps of his two brothers and his father. He served in the Second World War (1941 to 1945) and the Korean War (1951 to 1954). He served his country proudly and in turn was awarded numerous medals which he has left to be cherished by his grandchildren. Upon his return to Canada, he worked as a manager at Eatons. He then moved on as a manager at Modern Dairies until he retired in the year of 1987. Jim loved life and found pleasure in spending time with family and his beloved cat Ginger. He was always quick to make people feel welcome with his warm laugh and bright smile. We will sadly miss his comforting ways and his generous heart. In keeping with Jims wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway.
