HARRY DOLA Peacefully, on June 25, 2004, Dad left this world with his family by his side. Dad was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Dola; brothers, Pete, Bill and Mike; sisters, Pearl, Doris and Nellie; and daughter Valerie. To remember Dad and all the wonderful moments together, he leaves his beloved wife Agnes; children, Sherie (Bob), Lindsay; Gail (John), Cole and Clint; Harvey (Colleen), Hayden; Elaine (Albert), Trent, Shawna, Riley and Austin; Diane (Robert), Crystal, Janet and Ryan; Evelyn (Brendan, Jackie) brother Victor (Elsie) sister Anne; brother-in-law Allan Gayoway; sisters-in-law, Annie and Anne Dola; mother-in-law Tekla Obach; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was born in Pleasant Home to John and Mary Dola. He grew up there with his many siblings and there, was raised learning the meaning of love, togetherness and hard work. He always helped his family in any way he could, and working hard was part of his nature. Dad started work at a young age. At 15 years of age, he worked cutting pulp in Pine Falls. He also fished and then worked in the Red Lake mines. As well, he worked for Watsko Construction, Community Homes, Melnychuk Bros, Red River Roadbuilders, BACM and Riverside Gravel. He was extremely proud of the many highways he built with his brothers, and was the best grader operator you could find. Dads love for music was also shared with many family and friends over the years, whether he was playing the fiddle, banjo, accordian, piano or even the spoons. Who could ever forget Dad and Uncle Bill singing "Remember Me" and playing the night away. Dad also loved the farm life and we will always remember being called to the barn to watch piglets being born. He was a tough, strong man who could put up a fence or corral in no time. Dad also loved cooking, and made the best cinnamon buns around. He was also creative in his cooking abilities, and was always experimenting with some recipe and adding his special talent to it. And, of course he loved putting in a huge garden. Dad loved his family and especially loved his grandchildren. They all knew where he hid the treats, and knew he would hand over the remote when they got there, even if it meant missing his wrestling. Dad, you were a strong man, yet a gentle man. Thank you for the years you gave us. You will never be forgotten. We will hold you in our hearts forever and you will walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again. Please give us all your guidance from up above. And thank you, Gigi, for the ice cream. Prayers will be said on Monday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m. (tonight) in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Winnipeg Beach, with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Dola, Gary Dola, Robbie Dola, Perry Dola, Harvey Dola and Trent Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Stutsky and Alvin Prysizney and Dads many friends. From the bottom of our hearts we all thank the Gimli Hospital staff for their care and Dr. R. C. Patel for his understanding and compassion. "Cry not when you think of me, For now my soul flies high and free. Take comfort in knowing there is no more pain. Encircled in the Lords arms I live again. Ill look down and love you all. But for me there is a greater call. Please dont stand and weep, Gaze to the stars and there Ill be. And someday together we will see Our love has lasted through eternity." Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
