Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILDA MARGARET REID KIRBYSON Hilda Margaret Reid Kirbyson of Souris, MB passed away on June 21, 2004 at 92 years of age. Hilda was born July 4, 1911, the daughter of Thomas and Matilda (nee Coulter) Reid. She lived on the family farm near Elgin with her parents and eight siblings. She received her education in Elgin. In 1930, she married Harold Angus Kirbyson. They farmed in the Fairfax district for 38 years where they were both actively involved in the community. In 1968, they retired and moved to Souris where they continued to be actively involved in the community. Hilda enjoyed a number of social activities including curling, watching ball games, playing cards and shuffleboard. She was an active member of the Souris Drop-In Centre and a lifelong member of the Anglican Church and Womens Auxiliary in Elgin, Fairfax and Souris. Hilda enjoyed the company of her many friends and relatives and took great delight in her active social life. Hilda was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1982. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Don Marr of Kelowna, BC and Margie and George Schienbein of Regina, SK; four grandchildren, Sandra Marr of Kelowna, Cal Marr of Kamloops, BC, Dale Schienbein and his wife Tanya of New Westminster, BC and Lee Anne Schienbein of Regina; two great-grandchildren, Lindsay Knitter of Kelowna and Sam Schienbein of New Westminster; two sisters-in-law, Wilda Kirbyson of Brandon, MB and Barbara Reid of Souris; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held at Kowalchuks Funeral Chapel in Souris on June 24, Rev. Mark Murray officiated. Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Souris Hospital Palliative Care.
