VIOLET (VI) BRODA (nee REINCH) It is with great sorrow that the family of Vi Broda announces her unexpected passing, only two days after her 80th birthday (which she said was her best birthday, ever). Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, and their families: Donnie, Al, Evan & Grace; Jackie, Steve, Ksenia & Kiernan; Walda, Al, Michael & Caroline. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Evelyn & Elsie, brother Harry and many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and friends. Vi was born on June 27, 1924 in Green Bay, Manitoba and grew up on a farm close to Beausejour. She lived most of her life in the Fort Rouge area of Winnipeg. Vi loved to cook and was well known for being very good at it. Gardening was another of her many talents. Up to the time of her passing, Vi kept an immaculate home and garden. She took care of her grandchildren and baked and knitted for all those she loved. Vi was a generous and wonderful person who always had a great love for animals. She touched many people and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. The family is grateful to the friends and professionals who attended to Vi and ensured that she arrived speedily and safely at the hospital, and to the medical teams at St. Boniface Hospital who provided excellent care. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, 12:30 p.m., Monday, July 5, reception to follow. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations in Vis memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society , 5 Kent St., Wpg, MB R2L 1X3 or to a Pet Rescue of your choice.
