RT. HON. F. ALVIN G. HAMILTON PC, LL.D March 30, 1912 - June 29, 2004 Peacefully at home. Predeceased by his wife Beulah (Major) survived by two sons, Robert and William; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alvin was born in Kenora, ON, and orphaned in 1927. He was a farmhand and student in Delisle, SK. In 1938 he received his BA at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon). He taught at Nutana Collegiate Institute (Saskatoon) before and after the Second World War. From 1942 to 1945 Alvin served with the RCAF as a Flight Lt., including a tour of operations in Burma with 435 and 436 Squadrons. Alvin was actively involved politically for more than 50 years. This involvement included being Leader of the PC Party of Saskatchewan from 1948 to 1957; Member of Parliament for 27 years; and Minister of Northern Affairs and Minister of Agriculture in the Diefenbaker government. He retired in 1988. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., Ottawa, on Monday, July 5 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment beside his wife Beulah at St. Johns Anglican Cemetery, South March, ON.
