JESSIE SAMCE May 15, 1915 - July 5, 2004 I announce with sadness that on Monday, July 5, 2004, my mother Jessie Samce, widow of Fred Samce, passed away at River East Personal Care Home, after a full and long life at the age of 89 years. Jessie was born on May 15, 1915 in Birch River and raised on the family farm in Prawda, MB. She married Fred in 1930 and moved to Winnipeg; they were married for 56 years, residing on McAdam Avenue and later on Garfield Street. After Fred passed away in 1986, she briefly resided on Setter Street and then on Goulding Street. She especially enjoyed our Grand Beach cottage, sharing in happy times at the "Boys Place." Jessie was a very hard working lady, dedicated to making a better life for her husband and family. Jessie was the last surviving member of her immediate family being predeceased by her mother Anne Nazar; and father John Truba; brothers, Bill, Sam and Mike; sisters, Anne and Mary. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Bill Howie. Jessie will be missed by her only child, daughter Vi Howie; grandsons, Brian (Lucy), Glen and Jeff (Joanne) and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Brittany, Jennifer, Lauren, and Kristen; and some nieces and nephews who may recall special times. She will be lovingly remembered by Lynn. Vi greatly appreciates and thanks all those caring people at the River East Personal Care Home who tended to my mothers wants and needs with much patience, compassion and empathy. Flowers are gratefully declined, if so desired, remembrances through the Alzheimer Society, Unit 10, 120 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 would be much appreciated. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with interment and reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.
