STANLEY SCARR August 24, 1911 - July 4, 2004 After a short illness, Stanley Scarr passed away at Oakview Place Personal Care Home. Stan was born in Barrow-on-Furness, Walney Island, England and immigrated to Canada in 1912 with his parents and brothers. Stan was predeceased by his beloved wife of 73 years, Ivy, in April 2004; his mother Elizabeth Scarr; his father Robert Scarr; and two brothers, Leonard and Cyril. He is survived by his son Stanley R. (Lorraine) daughters, Bernice Parbery (Gordon), Barbara Picken (Robert), Diane (Becker) Brown (Jack) eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Prior to his retirement in 1976, Stan was employed as a street car and bus operator with The Winnipeg Transit Commission for 30 years. He was an excellent handyman, enjoyed doing his crossword puzzles, motoring trips with his wife Ivy, and many years of 5 pin bowling in a mixed bowling league, and golfing with "The Dun Workin Duffers". His bowling and golfing continued until his late 80s. Cremation has taken place and in accordance with Dads wishes there will be no funeral service; however a private interment service will be held at a later date. If desired, donations in Stans memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. Many thanks to the nurses and staff of the third floor north, Oakview Place for the care and compassion shown to Stan during his short stay there. "Rest in Peace, Dad. We love you."
