NORAH MABEL CATHERINE TURNER May 30, 1914 - July 6, 2004 We announce with sadness that on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 our mother, nana, and great-nana passed away in Misericordia Place, after a full and long life. Norah came to Canada with her husband Harry, and four daughters from England in 1953. They lived in Toronto for five years before moving to Winnipeg. The family resided on Scotia Street until the summer of 1963, when they moved to Wildwood Park. In 1985, Norah now widowed moved to 3030 Pembina Hwy. for 17 years. She then moved to Heritage Lodge in July of 2002 then in December of 2003 to Misericordia Place where she resided until the time of her death. Norah regularly attended St. Pauls Anglican Church, where she was a member of the Alter Guild for many years. She was also active in the Manitoba Home and School Parent Teacher Federation, holding positions at local and provincial levels. Norah was a member of Jubilee Chapter No. 27, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also past president of the Winnipeg Cosmopolitan Club, a member of Creative Retirement, and volunteered for many years at Pinkham School. The students were very special to her. Norah was predeceased by her husband, Harry in 1974, sister Gwen Curtis of Folkstone, England, brother Tom Chaney of Gillingham, England. She leaves to mourn her daughters, Patricia (Gunter) Deflieze, Milwaukee, WI, Sheila (Syd) Page, Gillian Turner, Winnipeg and Jennifer (Danny) Cescon, Calgary; grandchildren, Katherine (Peter) Lucas, Minnetonka, MN, Robert (Rita) Delflieze, Wauwatosa, WI, John Deflieze, Phoenix, AZ, Geoffrey (Kelly) Page, Lesley Page, Winnipeg, Nicholas Cescon, Calgary, Carrie (Lucas) Glowacki, Jennifer (David) Hailley all of Winnipeg. She will also be mourned by her great-grandchildren, Rachel and Anna Lucas, Margaret and Claudia Deflieze, Jacob, Katarina, Thomas and Michael Glowacki. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were especially dear to her. Also surviving is her brother Cyril Chaney and family of Gillingham, England. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Pauls Anglican Church Point Road at North Drive. Pallbearers will be, sons-in-law, Gunter Deflieze, Syd Page and Danny Cescon; grandsons, Robert Deflieze, Geoffrey Page and Nicholas Cescon. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Pauls Anglican Church, 941 Point Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3T 0A9 where Norah was a member since 1963. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care given to our mother, nana and great-nana to the staff at Apple Tree Lane, Misericordia Place.
