Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJ.D. (JOHN) CAMPBELL On Thursday, July 8, 2004, J.D. (John) Campbell passed away at West Park Manor surrounded by the love of his family, after several years of declining health. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Barby; his three daughters, Barbara (Bob) Wooldrage, Margaret, and Kathy (Jeff) Couch; grandchildren, Mike and Kate Wooldrage, Steven and Bryan Couch. He was predeceased by his sisters, Effie and Jean Campbell. J.D. was born in Redvers, SK on June 4, 1911. He attended United College, graduating with a Gold Medal in Mathematics. He went to teach in Benson, SK, where he met and married Barby. During the Second World War, he was part of the D-Day assault moving on to the liberation of Holland. Returning to Canada, he taught veterans and completed his Masters Degree. In September, 1948, he began his teaching career in Winnipeg with the #1 School Division, teaching at Mulvey, Isbister, Earl Grey and TecVoc where he eventually became Mathematics Department Head. He had fond memories of his colleagues and particularly his students. Their friends and the tight-knit Rosedale/Riverview community enriched their years on McNaughton Avenue. Following J.D.s retirement in 1986, he and Barby became "Winter Texans" spending many happy years at Pine to Palm in Weslaco, TX in the winter and at Victoria Beach in the summer. Family was very important to J.D. and Barby. Summers involved trips back to Saskatchewan, to Carlyle Lake and camping expeditions. They opened their home and hearts to extended family including his father, her mother, brother, and nephew. A quiet, soft-spoken man, J.D. lived his life trying to do what was right. Small in stature, he was generous in love and spirit. The family would like to thank the staff at West Park Manor 2 East for helping J.D. and his family through this last, most difficult part of his life journey. A private family service will be held. If friends so desire, donations in J.Ds memory may be made to C.N.I.B., 1080 Portage Ave., R3G 3M3, or to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
