Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES ELAINE BAYLEY On Sunday, June 20, 2004, Frances Bayley, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and aunt, passed away peacefully with daughter Carolyn, son-in-law Len and caring staff of Oceanview ECU, Comox, BC, by her side. Frances was born in 1918 in High River, AB, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Weldon, a family originally from Amherst, NS. A short time after she was born, she and her brother Raymond and the family moved back to Nova Scotia. It was in the lovely maritime town of Amherst, that Frances and Ray grew up and went to school. In 1938 Frances married her first husband, H.G. Longley, of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. It was from this union that their son, Graham Jr. was born. Sadly, Captain Longley was a casualty of the assault on Normandy, France, (Juno Beach) just a little over 60 years ago. It was some time later that she met and married her second husband, Kenneth Bayley from Winnipeg, who was serving in the RCAF, Summerside, PEI. At the end of the Second World War, they moved to Winnipeg to settle down and raise their family. During this time in their lives they spent many happy hours with friends square dancing, their favourite pastime. After 30 years of living in Winnipeg, Frances and her husband moved west to retire, and spent a few years in High River, AB, before moving on to Victoria, Campbell River and finally to Courtenay, BC in 1987. Frances took great pride in her home and kept her cupboards stocked with tasty desserts as she loved to bake; her specialty being Nova Scotia Dutch rolls. She loved to paint as well as do needle point but she will mostly be remembered for her passionate love of animals, especially dogs, and over her lifetime she had many. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth in 2002 and her brother, Ray in 1994, and will be sadly missed by son Graham Bayley (Catherine) Burnaby, BC; daughter Carolyn Titus (Leonard) Campbell River, BC; sister-in-law Phyllis Ross (Bayley), Killarney, MB; granddaughter, Jessica Bayley, Burnaby, BC; grandsons, Steven Meyer, Edmonton; Scott Meyer, Vancouver; nieces, Geraldine McKay (Tom), New Glasgow, Nova Scotia; Marilyn Kittle (Bayley) Auburn, Washington; Karen Cummings (Jim) Killarney, MB and nephew Don Ross (Sandy), Winnipeg. A memorial service was held July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Anglican Church, Campbell River, BC, the Venerable Peter Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to an SPCA of your choice. "FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS"
