Date of Passing: Jul 02, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREIDA MARY JONES Peacefully on July 2, 2004 Freida passed away at The Grace Hospice in Winnipeg at the age of 72. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1988, her adoptive parents Forest and Sarah Hunt and her birth mother Phyllis Baker. She will be sadly missed by her children, Brian (Lesley), Valerie (Travers Fitzpatrick), Clifford (Patricia), and Bob (Sandra). She also will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Marcia, Tracy, Jennifer, Katharine, Sarah, Shannon, Jaclyn and Kelsey, her brother Fred and her sisters, Phyllis and Lillian and her great-grandchildren Kaleigh, Joshua, Ryan, Taylor and Meagan. Freida was born in Prescott, Ontario but spent her childhood on a farm in Iron Hill, Quebec. It was here that she met and married the love of her life John in 1949. Her early married life was devoted to the upbringing of her four children in Iron Hill and in Prescott, Ontario. Freida and John relocated to Toronto and Midland, Ontario where they established new friends and were active in the local community. At the age of 40, Freida went back to school and graduated from George Brown College before becoming a court reporter for several years. When John retired, they travelled the country in a motor home, fulfilling a lifelong dream and creating many more happy memories. They ultimately settled in Kelowna BC and after Johns passing, Freida lived in Kelowna and in Victoria and Sidney on Vancouver Island before coming to Winnipeg four years ago. Throughout her life, Freidas greatest joy was her family. If ever there was a person who saw the glass as "half full" rather than "half empty" it was Freida. She was an eternal optimist, a creative spirit and a woman of great faith who had an endearing sense of fun. She had a generous nature and made friends easily in the many places that she lived. A celebration of Freidas life will be held on Friday, July 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family extends its deepest appreciation to Freidas longtime friend Shirley Wilson for her care and devotion and to the kind staff at the Victoria General Hospital and the Grace Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospice in Freidas name. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 McGillivray Blvd - 1-877-230-0438
