CHRISTINE MASYK (nee VICKERS) It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of Christine Masyk on Friday, July 9, 2004 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 59 years. She is survived by her loving husband Roman; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Morris Lobas; sisters, Patricia Lyon (Les), Vancouver, BC, Margaret Beneteau, Kingston, ON, Josephine Gatien (Hector) and Frances McGinn (Jim) of Winnipeg; brothers, William Vickers (Mary), Rossland, BC, Joseph Downing, Edmonton, AB; sister-in-law Betty Vickers, Norfolk, VA, USA; and many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Charles and Kathleen Vickers; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Anna Masyk; sister Mary Kathleen (Mollie) Vickers; brother Bernard Vickers; brother-in-law Kenneth Beneteau; sister-in-law Rosemarie Downing; niece and nephew, Laurine and Patrick Vickers. Christine was born September 25, 1944 in East Kildonan and lived all her life in Winnipeg. She attended St. Alphonsus Elementary School and St. Marys Academy. She loved animals and was a great supporter of the Winnipeg Humane Society and the Canadian Diabetes Society. She was an accomplished cook and loved preparing exotic meals for family gatherings. She was employed by the Winnipeg Foundation and was very vocal about its accomplishments. She was totally immersed in her work and always spoke glowingly of the Foundation and her associates there. Christine was a caring, compassionate person and will be sadly missed by her loving husband Roman, her extended family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff on floor three at the Concordia Hospital for their compassion and excellent care during Christines last days. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Deacon Frank Conway officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Canadian Diabetes Society.
