DAVID HUGH BAIN "SCOTTIE" July 10, 1920 - July 10, 2004 With family at his side, on his 84th birthday, after a courageous battle with an assortment of illnesses, "Scottie" entered into eternal rest. David was predeceased by his parents, Dave and Jane Bain; brother Jim and sister Ina; also his in-laws (parents), Alex and Millie Cruickshank; brother-in-law, Ralph and (Dil) Cruickshank. David is survived by his loving wife Doris of 60 years marriage; daughter, Heather Wenzel (Gunter), granddaughter Kristin (Dan) and Velorian; son Murray Bain (Marian), grandchildren, Alexander and Stephanie; also his sister-in-law Bernice and John Tyler and several nieces and nephews of Scotland and Canada. David was born in Tain, Scotland, grew up in Invergordon and was known as "Dia" and very proud of his Scottish heritage. He joined the R.A.F. during the Second World War, was posted to various areas in Scotland and then posted to Neepawa Training R.A.F. Station in 1942 where he met Doris - "his love" and they were married in 1944 in Calgary. Soon return posting to Scotland, with Doris following later the same year. She stayed in Glasgow and worked. David was then posted to India. Two years later they returned to Canada January 1, 1947 and settled in Winnipeg to work and raise a family. He was employed with Winnipeg Post Office until 1980. On his retirement he enjoyed his grandchildren, his reading, walking, golfing and "The Love of Travel" with Doris. "Back Home" Scotland, Canada, U.S.A., Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, five Scandinavian countries as well as several Caribbean cruises. "Scottie" was always known for his "Gift of Gab" and the many jokes he told. He also loved to sing. Dave was a Husband-Father-Grandfather and Great-Grandfather as well as "a special Uncle". But most of all he was a friend to all. David Hugh Bain will be so fondly remembered and sorely missed. "We love You" The family, Doris, Heather and Murray extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to Dr. Ken Kasper, Dr. G. Benningen and the full nursing staff of GA4 Health Sciences for their excellent care and caring and encouragement they gave David and his family through this difficult time. David wished us to remember that our special moments with him will bring healing laughter through grieving tears.
