She was with her family who will cherish her memory. Edie is survived by her husband Tom; and their children, Carol (Neil) and Patrick Trembath, Greg (Judy), Christopher, Jennifer and Holly Bryan, Joan (Glen), Leigh, Jeff and Keith Dyrda, Jim (Debbie Dupley) Bryan. She is also survived by a sister Irene Kirkpatrick; and two sisters-in-law, Hazel Blackburn and Martina Todd; and many nieces and nephews. Edie was born September 12, 1919 and was the fourth of eight children born to a farm family in Oyen, AB. In 1941, she moved to Ottawa to work for the Federal Government. It was there that she met Tom and they married in 1945. As an Air Force family, they spent the next 25 years in Ottawa, Calgary, London, England and Rivers, MB. In 1970, they settled in Brandon where Edie began the next phase of her life as Administrative Assistant to a number of successive mayors who served the City of Brandon. After retirement, in 1985, Tom and Edie wintered in Florida where they golfed and enjoyed the friendships of many Canadian snowbirds. Central to Edies happiness, was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Treasured family moments were spent around the dining room table at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Edie was a proud and dignified woman, possessing a gentleness and internal strength that would help her in her health struggles later in life. In 1996, Edie faced her second battle with cancer and in 2001, with her independence compromised, she moved to Fairview Home where she remained until her death. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Fairview Home for their loving care of Edie. A memorial service will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, Brandon on Wednesday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB R7A 2W8.
