GUDRUN (GOODY) HALLSON On Sunday, July 11, 2004, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Goody Hallson passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. She will be profoundly missed by her loving daughter Gerry and son-in-law Jim Kulik; her sister Alma (Laugi) Nordal of Moosomin, SK; grandchildren, Brenda (Ken) Macaulay, Cathy (Ken) McLeod, Diane (Randy) Toker; and great-grandchildren, Amy and Alexander McLeod, Samantha Macaulay, and James and Jennifer Toker. Numerous other relatives and special nieces and nephews will also share in the loss. Goody was employed as a waitress/manageress at Salisbury House for 38 years. She was a hard-working, no-nonsense person who took her job very seriously. She found retirement difficult to accept and went to work part time at various restaurants until, to her delight, she was offered a full time babysitting job for a family member. This was a very gratifying experience for her. When she became plagued with poor health, she never let her disabilities get the best of her. She loved the family get-togethers and rarely missed a chance to party. Even as her body failed her she was determined to be independent, and her positive attitude took her through several life-threatening situations, much to the amazement of her family and her doctors. Goody was a unique and wonderful lady who was an inspiration to all her family. We are most fortunate to have enjoyed the closeness of four generations and for that we are truly grateful. We know that our close family made her time on earth enjoyable and fulfilled. Thanks Mom for struggling so hard to stay with us. We are heartbroken because you are gone, but we are happy we had you to love for as long as we did. The family would like to express their gratitude to staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th Floor and especially 4th Floor, Unit 9 for their exceptional care and kindness. An extra special thank you to Dr. Nolan Finlayson. Thanks also to the staff at Grace Hospital and Deer Lodge Hospital for their care in past years. A celebration of Goodys life will be held at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbook St. at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 16. Donations may be made to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation, 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, R2V 9Z9.
