MICHAEL TANASYCHUK November 12, 1921 - July 11, 2004 Michael Tanasychuk passed away at the Cottonwoods Palliative Care Unit in Kelowna, BC at the age of 82. Mike married Lena (Wladyka) in 1946 and farmed in the Birdtail district until their retirement in 1988. Mike and Lena resided in Rossburn until June, 2002 when they moved to Kelowna. Mike and Lena were blessed with three daughters and one son, Bernice Katchin (Ron) - both deceased in 2000, Janet Michalyshyn (Bob), Elaine Mackle (Willie), Conrad Tanasychuk (Denise Lemmon). Mike and Lena have four grandchildren, Kristen, Trisha, Chelsey and Will. Mike was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Rossburn where he served for many years as President of the board and as an elder. He was also President of the Oakburn and Rossburn Ukr. Orthodox Parish Committees. Mike entertained by playing the dulcimer at dances and weddings since the age of 13. He also enjoyed playing, collecting and repairing violins. Mike loved to fish, vacation and spend time with family and friends. Mike will be dearly missed by his wife Lena, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Prayer services will be held on Thursday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Raes Funeral Chapel, Shoal Lake, MB. Funeral services will be held at St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Rossburn, MB on Friday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Rossburn District Health Centre.
