IDA KATERIN CIASTKO Peacefully, on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, Ida passed away at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 84 years. Ida was born on September 2, 1919, daughter of Finnish immigrant parents, Andrew and Catherine Logan of Lucky Lake, SK. She was later adopted by the Hearn family. She was raised and received her education at Ditton Park, SK. In 1941, she met and married Carl Ciastko and has resided in Winnipeg since that time. Ida was a longtime member of Robertson Memorial United Church and Immanuel United Church. The special times in her life were spent with her family. She enjoyed many trips, gardening, walking, oil painting and especially cross-country skiing. She loved all seasons, nature and flowers. Ida was a very special person who enriched the lives of her family and a host of friends. Her kindheartedness and gentle nature will always be remembered. Predeceased by her parents; brother Edwin and sister Mildred, Ida will be fondly remembered by her husband Carl of 63 years of marriage; children, Allen (Val), Norman, Carol (Michael McCurdy) and Lisa (Mark Johnston) grandchildren, Martin (Mandy), Hayley and Lindsay; brother Tobias (Val) many nieces, nephews and first and second cousins in the United States. Ida and Carls "home" is Deer Lodge Centre. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Lodge 7 and the Main Floor Dining Room for taking special care of our Mom and Dad over the last four years. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service which will be held on Friday, July 16 at 11:00 a.m. in the Worship Centre in Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave. Donations in Idas memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Inc., Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
