GEORGE GADSBY George Gadsby, beloved father of Michele and Christopher, passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre, at the age of 79 years. George was born in Derbyshire, England on September 11, 1924, where he spent his childhood in a farming community. He served in the British Army during the Second World War, married Margaret (nee Sidaway) in 1946 and together they immigrated to Winnipeg, MB in 1957. In 1988, George moved to Duncan, BC where he spent many happy years as an active member of the British Canadian Club. He moved to Calgary in December, 2001 to be closer to his family. George will be dearly missed by his daughter Michele, son Christopher, daughter-in-law Michelle and grandchildren, Matthew and Evan. He is survived by his sisters, Hilda Howl and Phyllis Price, both residing in England. George was predeceased by his wife Margaret, in 1988 and his brother Bernard, in 2003. George was a well respected businessman, who worked as a senior member of the management team at Pritchard Engineering in Winnipeg for over 20 years. He was an avid gardener who could work miracles in even the most challenging climates. George also enjoyed working around the house, doing small repairs, as well as spending time with family and friends. The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to the kind and thoughtful staff of the Foothills Hospital and the Bethany Care Centre. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 16 at 2:30 p.m. at Parkdale United Church, 2919 - 8 Ave. N.W.
