Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREV. ROBERT LEROY HOOVER Suddenly on July 12, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital, Rev. Robert Leroy Hoover, husband of Katherine, went into the presence of the Lord at the age of 84. Born in Winnipeg, November 6, 1919, he took his early schooling in Detroit, MI and Winnipeg. He served overseas for three years in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Upon his return, he then attended Western Bible College (Winnipeg), graduating in 1947 and receiving his ordination with the P.A.O.C., actively in service until his passing. He pastored in Manitou, MB and in the surrounding area for 13 years and was the founding pastor of Sherwood Assembly of God in Winnipeg, MB where he remained for 13 years. In 1976, he and Katherine launched out into full time Evangelism which took them to Taiwan, Japan, Uruguay, Africa, Dominican Republic, Scotland, England, U.S., Canada and largely to India where several orphanages and widows residences were established. He leaves to cherish in his memory, wife of 55 years Katherine. Also cherishing his memory are Lynn (Haworth-Holbrow), Diane (Kees Bastiaans), Linda (Arnie Gertz), Elaine (Bruce Madison), Judy (Mike Dorken), Sandra (Marc Thibault), Grace-Marie (Levi Meekis), 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a sister Dorothy McCrae from Penticton, BC, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends from around the world. He was predeceased by his first wife Gertrude, parents and eight brothers. Respectfully remembered as "Hoover the Mover". In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully received for "Bob Hoover Evangelistic Association" for the ongoing work in India, 503-400 Osborne St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2W1. Visitation Thursday, July 15 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Sherwood Assembly of God, 384 Talbot Ave., Winnipeg, with funeral service Friday, July 16 at 11:00 a.m. also at the church.
