ERNEST (ERNIE) ALBERT DELF March 9, 1928 - July 13, 2004 Peacefully on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, Ernest Delf passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. Ernie was predeceased by his father Albert and his mother Azile, sister Marjorie Henry and nephew Lawrence Henry. He will be lovingly remembered by his former wife and best friend Val Delf (Davies). Also by his children, David (special friend Eva), Philip (special friend Beatrice), Scott (Emilie), and Bradley; and grandchildren, Ashley, Shawn, Clinton and Jason. He will also be missed by brothers, Ken (Rosemary), Gordon (Margaret) and sister Muriel (Gordon) Seddon and aunt Muriel Sutton. Ernie was born in Winnipeg, MB. He was raised on a farm in the Indianford District northwest of Rathwell, MB. The family moved to Winnipeg in October 1944. Ernie graduated from Gordon Bell High School in 1947. After six years with CN Rail, he went to work for the Chicago and Northwestern Transportation. He was their District Sales Manager from January 1953 until they closed their office in August 1985. Ernie enjoyed curling, golf and playing cards. He was a member of the Elmhurst Golf and Country Club for 21 years. He was Past President and Life Member of the Fort Garry C.C., Past President and Life Member of the Past Presidents Association of Manitoba Curling Clubs, H.L.M. of the Manitoba Curling Association, Past President and Life Member of the Winnipeg Transportation Club, and Past President and Life Member of Imperial Legion Branch 84. Memorial service will be held at Meadowood Manor at 577 St. Annes Rd. in the chapel area on Saturday, July 17 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Edward Hamm officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank all nurses, doctors and staff who cared for our Dad at the St. Boniface Hospital during his lengthy illness. Grateful thanks especially to the S.I.C.U., 4th floor and 5B Wards. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Meadowood Manor and Personal Care Home, 577 St. Annes Rd., R2M 5B2 or a charity of your choice.
