ELIZABETH GAL (nee SCHWING) Peacefully in the arms of her three daughters and family surrounding her, our mother passed into the waiting arms of Our Lord Jesus on July 13, 2004. Mom was born in Tolna-Mozs, Hungary on January 29, 1928. Due to circumstances of the Second World War, as a young woman she moved with her family to Germany. There she met and married her first husband Adolf Baumgart. In 1953 along with their infant daughter Kornelia, they immigrated to Canada to join family and became members of St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian R.C. Church. In 1958, they joyously welcomed another daughter Ingrid. Sadly, in 1962 Adolf passed away. In 1964, she married Imre Gal and they welcomed a daughter Cathy. Mom was predeceased by her first husband Adolf Baumgart; second husband Imre Gal; parents, Michael and Elizabeth Schwing. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kornelia (Rod) Lake, Ingrid Kerger and Cathy Grahlman; brother Frank (Frieda) Schwing; sister Katharina (Anthony) Bencsics. She also leaves to mourn her precious grandsons, Michael, Robert Lake, Marcus, Richard Kerger and Joshua Grahlman. Elizabeth is survived by her two nieces, Christel and Carrie; their families and numerous other relatives and friends in Europe. Also going to miss mom are her beloved cats Sunny and BoBo. Moms greatest joy was always her children, grandchildren and family. Mom gave unselfishly of everything she had but the greatest gift of all was the love she shared. Mom was an avid sewer and took great joy in sewing everything from dresses, Halloween costumes to Barbie clothes. Mom was employed for many years in the garment industry and retired from Nygard International. Her other passion was gardening. She was very proud of the many lilies and roses she grew. Mom was always cooking, baking and helping her family in any way she could. She touched the lives of many including her wonderful neighbours. The loss of our mother is immeasurable. The daughters and family wish to express heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of N3W Concordia Hospital, especially Donna, Chris, Colleen and Grant. Many thanks to Dr. Pat Harris and her Oncology team, Carol, Val, Martie, Elaine and Cathy. Thanks to Dr. Duerksen for his care of our mom during her stay and homecare nurse Janelle. Prayers and Rosary will be held on Saturday, July 17, between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Roman Catholic Church, 365 Burnell St. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Stan Gacek officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Mom will be lovingly carried by Michael and Robert Lake, Marcus and Richard Kerger, Rod Lake, Tim Parkill and honorary pallbearer Joshua Grahlman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Elizabeths memory to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of ones choice. There will forever be a void in our hearts, our lives will never be the same and we will always miss you Mom. You meant the world to us. We Love You. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
