Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL HINTHER (nee WIKSTROM) Peacefully at Fred Douglas Lodge on Wednesday, July 14, 2004, Hazel Hinther passed away at the age of 93. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1985 and her son Rodney in 1953 and by eight brothers and sisters. Left to mourn are her sons, Bob and wife Trish, Bill and wife Judy, her grandchildren Ashley and Ryan, Tricia and her husband Darrell, Andrea and her husband Victor and great grandchildren Gabriella and Luke. She is also survived by her brother Arthur Wikstrom and wife Sylvia, sister Dorothy Trinier and husband Erik, and brother-in-law Dave Hinther and wife Klara. Hazel was born in Ernfeld, SK. on November 9, 1910. She spent her childhood on the farm outside of Shamrock. After graduating from Normal School, she taught in a one room school house. While teaching at Shamrock, she met her future husband Fred. Following their marriage they moved to Manitoba to farm north of Stonewall. After the birth of Rodney and Bill, they moved to Winnipeg where Bob was born. Hazel was a very caring, supportive and wonderful mother who always provided guidance and strength to the family unit. She instilled in her family many positive qualities and stressed the importance of a good education for all family members. Hazel and Fred shared many hobbies and interests, particularly in their retirement years. They enjoyed gardening, curling, lawn bowling and Hazel was very proud of her artistic painting ability. One source of pleasure for Hazel and Fred were their gardens at home and at their summer cottage at Matlock. She also took great pride in being a lifetime member of the former CCF and present NDP party. Hazel loved football and was a dedicated fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but her greatest joy was sharing many wonderful experiences with her grandchildren. As a celebration of Hazels life, a Memorial Service will take place on Friday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Ave., with Rev. John Lenshyn officiating. A special thank you to the staff of the Fred Douglas Lodge for their care, support and kindness during the past four years. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba at 120 Donald St., or the Fred Douglas Foundation at 1275 Burrows Ave.
