DORIS ADA HOOD (nee MARTYN) November 14, 1919 - July 14, 2004 Peacefully, with her daughter Cheryl and granddaughter Marcie at her side, Mom went to be with the Lord. Doris is survived and remembered by her husband Thomas of 62 years; son Brian (Viola) daughters, Marian (Ric) McInnes and Cheryl; ten grandchildren, Candace (Greg) Hildebrand, Paula (John) Motkaluk, Jonathan and Marcie Hood, Kimberley and William Henderson, Kyle, Curtis and Michelle Sweezie and Barbara Hood; eight great-grandchildren, Evan, Megan, April, Desiree, Kodie, Victoria, Brooklyn and Zachary; nine siblings, Harold, Duncan, Keith, Norman, George, William, Kaye Nesbitt, Margaret Goodchild, Irene Taypak, and their families. Doris was born and raised in Fort William, ON in a family of 14 children. After her schooling, she went to work at Eatons in Geralton, ON where she met and married Thomas. During the war, they moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family and then retired. Doris loved to golf, curl, and especially enjoyed the social times of being with her friends. Doris loved to share stories of her childhood, growing up on the farm and the good times she had spending summers at Caddy Lake with her kids. During her last eight months, after breaking her leg and surviving surgery, she was lovingly cared for in her sons home by family and loving caregivers who she grew to love. The family would like to thank Lorna, Daphne, Edith, Vivian, Grace, Karen and Tracy for loving and caring for mom over the past months and for being her friend. A family service will take place.
